About Corydalis ambigua

Yan Hu Suo (Corydalis yanhusuo, listed in the catalogue under the older name Corydalis ambigua) is a small tuberous perennial of the poppy family, Papaveraceae, native to eastern China and cultivated chiefly in Zhejiang, where it grows in moist, shaded woodland and is harvested in late spring as the foliage dies back. It rises 10 to 20 cm with delicate, blue-green, deeply divided leaves and short racemes of narrow, spurred, pink to purple flowers in early spring. The round, flattened tubers are yellow inside and about 1 to 2 cm across. We extract the dried root.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
