Ye Ju Hua (Chrysanthemum indicum) is the wild or Indian chrysanthemum, a perennial of the daisy family, Asteraceae, native to China, Japan, Korea and India, where it grows on hillsides, roadsides, field margins and riverbanks and is one of the wild ancestors of the garden chrysanthemum. It forms spreading clumps 30 to 100 cm tall with lobed, toothed, aromatic leaves and loose clusters of small yellow daisy-like flower heads 1.5 to 2.5 cm across in autumn. The flower heads are picked when just open and dried, and have a strong bitter scent. We extract the dried flower.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
