About Cratoxylum cochinchinense

Yellow Cow Wood (Cratoxylum cochinchinense) is a deciduous shrub or small tree of the St John's wort family, Hypericaceae, native to southern China, Myanmar, Indochina, Malaysia and Indonesia, where it grows in open secondary forest. It reaches 5 to 15 meters with smooth, greyish-brown bark that peels in thin flakes, slender branches and pairs of oval leaves that flush pink to red when young and again before they fall. Small pink to crimson five-petaled flowers along the branches are followed by oblong capsules. We extract the dried leaf.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
