Adipose Tissue Support Alcohol-Free Drops

This is an alcohol-free liquid extract (glycerite) of three herbs extracted together in equal parts and taken by mouth: the flowering herb of the purple coneflower, the round leaf of gotu kola and the aromatic leaf of thyme. Each is also sold on its own. It is a traditional herbal product - please read the safety information below before use.

  • Echinacea, herb - Echinacea purpurea aerial parts (Asteraceae)
  • Gotu kola, leaf - Centella asiatica leaf (Apiaceae)
  • Thyme, leaf - Thymus vulgaris leaf (Lamiaceae)
  • Extract type: Alcohol-free glycerite - liquid drops, for oral use. Other ingredients: vegetable glycerin, purified water
  • Origin: Responsibly sourced cultivated botanicals (echinacea from the USA, gotu kola from Sri Lanka, thyme from Argentina). Gluten free. Made in the USA.

What is in the blend

  • Echinacea herb - the flowering aerial parts of Echinacea purpurea, the purple coneflower of the North American prairie with its drooping magenta petals and spiny orange cone. The herb is used here; the root is a separate extract, and Echinacea angustifolia is a different species.
  • Gotu kola leaf - a small creeping plant with round, scalloped leaves that grows along ditches and paddies of South Asia; despite the name it is unrelated to kola nut and contains no caffeine.
  • Thyme leaf - the small aromatic leaf of the Mediterranean kitchen herb, a member of the mint family.

Why the alcohol-free drops

The three dried herbs are extracted together in vegetable glycerin and purified water, so there is no ethanol in the bottle - the version to choose if you avoid alcohol. Glycerin gives the drops a mild, naturally sweet taste with a green herbal note.

What is a glycerite?

A glycerite is a liquid herbal extract made with vegetable glycerin instead of alcohol. Glycerin is a clear, naturally sweet liquid from plant oils; it extracts and preserves the water-soluble parts of the herbs. Because glycerin is a weaker preservative than alcohol, keep the bottle refrigerated after opening. The glycerin and water percentages are printed on the label.

How to use

Take by mouth only. Shake well before use. Put the number of drops shown on the label into a little water, juice or tea and drink it, up to the frequency shown on the label. Do not exceed the label serving. Echinacea is traditionally used in courses rather than continuously - do not take this blend for more than eight weeks at a time without talking to your practitioner. Refrigerate after opening and use within the period printed on the label.

Drops or tincture?

If you prefer the classic alcohol-based extract with the longest shelf life at room temperature, the same three-herb blend is available as Adipose Tissue Support Tincture - the alcohol-based version. The herbs and proportions are identical; only the extraction liquid differs.

Important safety information - please read before use

This is an oral herbal product. All three herbs have documented cautions. Please read before use.

  • Autoimmune conditions and immune-suppressing medication: echinacea may increase immune activity. Do not use if you have an autoimmune condition such as lupus, multiple sclerosis or rheumatoid arthritis, or if you take immunosuppressants, including after an organ transplant.
  • Allergies: echinacea is a daisy-family (Asteraceae) plant - avoid if you are allergic to ragweed, daisies, marigolds or chrysanthemums. Thyme is a mint-family (Lamiaceae) plant. Gotu kola can cause skin sensitivity in some people.
  • Liver: rare cases of liver injury have been reported with gotu kola. Stay within the label serving. Stop and see a doctor if you notice yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine or unusual fatigue.
  • Pregnancy / nursing: do not use.
  • Blood thinners and surgery: thyme may slow blood clotting - consult your doctor if you take warfarin or similar, and stop use at least two weeks before surgery.
  • Thyroid: thyme may affect thyroid medication - consult your doctor.
  • Sedatives: gotu kola may add to the effect of sedative medicines and alcohol.
  • Duration: use in courses of no more than eight weeks at a time.
  • See a doctor: red, hot, painful or swollen skin can be an infection that needs prompt medical care. Do not use this blend instead of a medical evaluation or any prescribed treatment.
  • Age: not for children.
  • If you have a medical condition or take medication, consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use. Do not use it to self-treat any medical condition - see a qualified doctor instead. Keep out of reach of children.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Adipose Tissue Support Alcohol-Free Drops?
Adipose Tissue Support is a three-herb liquid blend: echinacea herb (Echinacea purpurea), gotu kola leaf (Centella asiatica) and thyme leaf (Thymus vulgaris), extracted together in equal parts in vegetable glycerin and purified water, with no alcohol. Echinacea is the purple coneflower of the American prairie, gotu kola a small creeping plant of wet tropical ground, and thyme the Mediterranean kitchen herb; each is also sold on its own. It is an herbal glycerite taken by mouth, not a capsule and not a topical product. It is a botanical product and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Please read the safety note below.
What is the difference between the alcohol-free drops and the tincture?
Both contain the same three herbs in the same proportions; only the extraction liquid differs. These drops are a glycerite made with vegetable glycerin and purified water - no alcohol, a mild, naturally sweet taste with a green herbal note, best kept refrigerated after opening. The tincture uses organic alcohol with vegetable glycerin and water, the classic method with the longest shelf life at room temperature. Choose whichever suits you; the safety notes apply to both.
Is this echinacea herb or root? Which echinacea species is it?
This blend uses the echinacea herb - the flowering aerial parts of Echinacea purpurea, the purple coneflower; echinacea root is a separate extract, and Echinacea angustifolia is a different species that we also sell on its own. Gotu kola is Centella asiatica, a leafy plant of the carrot family, unrelated to kola nut despite the name and free of caffeine. Thyme is the dried leaf of the same plant used in cooking. All three herbs are also available as single extracts.
