Gravel Root (Eupatorium Purpureum) is a tall North American perennial of the daisy family (Asteraceae). The part used here is the root. The plant goes by several names, including gravel root, Joe Pye weed, queen of the meadow, and purple boneset. In modern classification it is also placed in the genus Eutrochium as Eutrochium purpureum - the same plant.
-
WHOLE-ROOT LIQUID EXTRACT: Made from the dried root of Eupatorium purpureum, carrying the plant's natural spectrum of constituents rather than an isolated or standardized single compound.
-
TRADITIONAL ALCOHOL EXTRACTION: A classic alcohol-based tincture, made with organic alcohol, vegetable glycerin, and water, for a concentrated extract with a long shelf life.
-
ALSO CALLED JOE PYE WEED: This is Eupatorium purpureum, the same plant known as the native garden wildflower Joe Pye weed.
-
NOT MEADOWSWEET: Gravel root is sometimes called queen of the meadow, but it is not meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria), a different plant that shares that name.
-
CLEARLY LABELED: Labeled by botanical name and plant part, so there is no confusion with meadowsweet or other plants.
