Parsley is a commonly grown culinary and medicinal herb. The fresh leaves are highly nutritious and can be considered a natural vitamin and mineral supplement in their own right.*

Frequently Asked Questions about Parsley Extract
What is Parsley Leaf (Petroselinum crispum) extract?
Parsley is a biennial plant of the carrot or parsley family (Apiaceae), botanically Petroselinum crispum. The part used here is the leaf - the familiar leafy green. It is one of the most widely used culinary herbs in the world, grown in two main forms: curly parsley and flat-leaf, or Italian, parsley. Parsley leaf is genuinely nutritious, carrying vitamins and minerals as part of the whole leaf. Our extract is offered in two forms - a traditional alcohol-based tincture and an alcohol-free glycerite - each from ethically sourced raw material. This is a whole-leaf liquid extract that carries the leaf's natural spectrum of constituents, not an isolated or standardized single-compound product. Note that the parsley plant also has a root form, which we offer separately as parsley root; this product is the leaf. We label it clearly by botanical name and plant part.
What is the difference between the tincture and alcohol-free versions?
Both are liquid extracts of the same Petroselinum crispum leaf; only the solvent differs. The tincture uses alcohol as the traditional solvent, with vegetable glycerin and water. The alcohol-free version is a glycerite made with vegetable glycerin and purified water, suited to those who avoid alcohol. Both deliver the leaf's constituents in a convenient liquid you take by the drop. Choose the tincture for a classic alcohol-extracted format with a longer shelf life; choose the glycerite if you prefer no alcohol.
Is this the leaf or the root, and is it the cooking parsley?
Good questions. First, the part: this product is the parsley LEAF - the leafy green herb. The same plant also has a root form, sometimes called Hamburg parsley or turnip-rooted parsley (Petroselinum crispum var. tuberosum), a thicker root used in European soups and stews. We offer that separately as a parsley ROOT product, so you can choose the leaf or the root depending on what you want. Second, the kitchen herb: yes, this is the same parsley used in cooking, offered here as a concentrated liquid supplement extract rather than the fresh culinary bunch. One more note: parsley looks similar to cilantro (coriander leaf), but they are different herbs. We label our product clearly by botanical name (Petroselinum crispum) and plant part (leaf) so there is no confusion between leaf and root, or between parsley and cilantro.
How do I use Parsley Leaf liquid extract?
Shake well before use. Adults take 20-30 drops (approximately 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper) in 2 oz of water, tea, or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by your practitioner. See the safety note below. Drink the entire contents.
Is Parsley Leaf extract right for everyone? Safety and storage.
Parsley is safe as a food in the normal amounts used in cooking. As a concentrated extract, a few notes apply. Do not use it during pregnancy, because parsley in large or medicinal amounts can stimulate the uterus. Parsley is also naturally high in vitamin K, which can interfere with blood-thinning medication such as warfarin, so talk with your doctor before use if you take an anticoagulant. Parsley may have a mild diuretic (water-losing) effect, so use caution if you take diuretic medication or have kidney disease. If you are nursing, take any other medication, or have a medical condition, also consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use. Keep out of reach of children, and do not exceed the suggested serving. Store this tincture in a cool, dark place. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

ETHICALLY SOURCED, NATURAL INGREDIENTS

Our Parsley (Petroselinum Crispum) Leaf is selected from regions with optimal growing conditions to support a high concentration of active constituents. We work only with trusted suppliers and focus on sourcing clean, well-preserved botanical material suitable for high-quality liquid extraction.

As a solvent, we use alcohol to preserve the integrity of the extract and support a clean extraction process.
To verify botanical identity and ensure consistency, all raw materials are tested in our laboratory using established analytical techniques. These include High-Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) for plant authentication and fingerprinting, or Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and other in-house methods. Our approach is guided by relevant standards such as those of the USP and Ph. Eur., ISO 17025 and cGLP, allowing us to maintain rigorous quality control, ensuring the material meets our specifications for identity, purity and composition.

METICULOUS EXTRACT PREPARATION

Hawaii Pharm determines the optimal herb-to-menstruum ratio for each botanical. For alcohol-based extracts, we use a carefully balanced alcohol blend to ensure maximum extraction of active compounds while preserving the plant's natural integrity.
Our master herbalists analyze each batch and adjust extraction parameters as needed, ensuring consistent quality despite natural variations in botanical sources.
The result is a potent, stable liquid extract that captures the full spectrum of the botanical's benefits.

COMPREHENSIVE LABORATORY TESTING

Every batch undergoes multiple quality assurance tests including:
  • Organoleptic evaluation (color, consistency, aroma)
  • FTIR and/or HPTLC spectral analysis for identity confirmation
  • Microbiological testing (total plate count, E. coli, coliforms)
  • Yeast and mold screening
  • Alcohol content verification
  • Viscosity measurement
  • Refractometric analysis
