Pink Lotus (Nelumbo Nucifera) is the flower of the sacred lotus, also called Indian lotus, an aquatic perennial plant of the family Nelumbonaceae. Its iconic pink blossom rises on a stalk above the water and has been a cultural and spiritual symbol across Asia for thousands of years. The part used here is the flower. The flower naturally contains alkaloids such as nuciferine. Origin: China.

  •

WHOLE-FLOWER LIQUID EXTRACT: Made from the dried flower of Nelumbo nucifera, carrying the plant's natural spectrum of constituents rather than an isolated or standardized single compound.

  •

TRADITIONAL ALCOHOL EXTRACTION: A classic alcohol-based tincture, made with organic alcohol, vegetable glycerin, and water, for a concentrated extract with a long shelf life.

  •

THE FLOWER, SPECIFICALLY: The lotus plant provides several traditional items from different parts - the leaf, seed, plumule, root, and stamen - which are used separately. This product is specifically the flower.

  •

SACRED LOTUS, NOT WATER LILY: Made from Nelumbo nucifera (sacred / Indian lotus), which is botanically different from the water lilies of the genus Nymphaea (including the blue lotus).

Frequently Asked Questions about Pink Lotus Extract
What is Pink Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) flower extract?
Pink Lotus is the flower of Nelumbo nucifera, the sacred lotus (also called Indian lotus), an aquatic perennial plant in the family Nelumbonaceae. Its iconic pink blossom rises on a stalk above the water and has been a cultural and spiritual symbol across Asia for thousands of years. The part used here is the flower. It is worth knowing that the lotus plant provides several traditional items from different parts - the leaf, the seed, the plumule (embryo), the root, and the stamen - which are used separately; our product is specifically the flower. Our extract is offered in two forms - a traditional alcohol-based tincture and an alcohol-free glycerite - each from ethically sourced raw material. The flower naturally contains alkaloids such as nuciferine. This is a whole-flower liquid extract that carries the plant's natural spectrum of constituents, not an isolated or standardized single-compound product, and we label it clearly by botanical name and plant part.
What is the difference between the tincture and alcohol-free versions?
Both are liquid extracts of the same Nelumbo nucifera flower; only the solvent differs. The tincture uses alcohol as the traditional solvent, with vegetable glycerin and water. The alcohol-free version is a glycerite made with vegetable glycerin and purified water, suited to those who avoid alcohol. Both deliver the flower's constituents in a convenient liquid you take by the drop. Choose the tincture for a classic alcohol-extracted format with a longer shelf life; choose the glycerite if you prefer no alcohol.
Which part is this, and is it the same as water lily?
Two important clarifications. First, part: our product is the flower of the lotus. The same plant, Nelumbo nucifera, yields several different traditional items from its other parts - the leaf (known as He Ye), the seed, the plumule or embryo (Lian Zi Xin), the root or rhizome, and the stamen - and these are offered as separate products. So it is important to know that this is the flower, not the leaf, seed, plumule, or root. Second, species: the sacred lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) is often loosely called "lotus," but true water lilies belong to a different genus, Nymphaea - which includes the blue lotus (Nymphaea caerulea). Our product is specifically the sacred lotus, Nelumbo nucifera, not a water lily. We label our product clearly by botanical name and plant part so there is no confusion with the other parts, with water lilies, or with the plant as a symbol.
How do I use Pink Lotus liquid extract?
Shake well before use. Adults take 20-30 drops (approximately 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper) in 2 oz of water, tea, or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by your practitioner. Drink the entire contents.
Is Pink Lotus extract right for everyone? Safety and storage.
Pink Lotus is not right for everyone. It naturally contains plant alkaloids, so use it only as directed and do not exceed the suggested serving. If you are pregnant or nursing, take any medication, or have a medical condition, talk with a qualified healthcare practitioner before use. Not for children. Keep out of reach of children. Store this tincture in a cool, dark place. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

ETHICALLY SOURCED, NATURAL INGREDIENTS

Our Pink Lotus (Nelumbo Nucifera) Flower is selected from regions with optimal growing conditions to support a high concentration of active constituents. We work only with trusted suppliers and focus on sourcing clean, well-preserved botanical material suitable for high-quality liquid extraction.

As a solvent, we use alcohol to preserve the integrity of the extract and support a clean extraction process.
To verify botanical identity and ensure consistency, all raw materials are tested in our laboratory using established analytical techniques. These include High-Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) for plant authentication and fingerprinting, or Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and other in-house methods. Our approach is guided by relevant standards such as those of the USP and Ph. Eur., ISO 17025 and cGLP, allowing us to maintain rigorous quality control, ensuring the material meets our specifications for identity, purity and composition.

METICULOUS EXTRACT PREPARATION

Hawaii Pharm determines the optimal herb-to-menstruum ratio for each botanical. For alcohol-based extracts, we use a carefully balanced alcohol blend to ensure maximum extraction of active compounds while preserving the plant's natural integrity.
Our master herbalists analyze each batch and adjust extraction parameters as needed, ensuring consistent quality despite natural variations in botanical sources.
The result is a potent, stable liquid extract that captures the full spectrum of the botanical's benefits.

COMPREHENSIVE LABORATORY TESTING

Every batch undergoes multiple quality assurance tests including:
  • Organoleptic evaluation (color, consistency, aroma)
  • FTIR and/or HPTLC spectral analysis for identity confirmation
  • Microbiological testing (total plate count, E. coli, coliforms)
  • Yeast and mold screening
  • Alcohol content verification
  • Viscosity measurement
