Glycerites can also be administered directly into the mouth without the assistance of water however some glycerites are unpalatable which is why most people prefer to dilute them into a beverage.

This extract comes from Rosa canina, the wild rose commonly known as the dog rose, a member of the rose family (Rosaceae) native to Europe, northwest Africa and western Asia. After the rose flowers fade, they leave behind a small, rounded red or orange fruit called a "hip," and inside each hip are the seeds. Our product is a concentrated liquid extract made from the dried seed of the hip, gently prepared to capture the seed's natural constituents. Rose hips are well known as one of the plant world's richer natural sources of vitamin C, which is simply a characteristic of the fruit. Each batch is prepared from ethically sourced, wild-harvested raw material from Chile and offered in two forms - an alcohol-free glycerite and a traditional alcohol-based tincture. This is a whole-seed liquid extract carrying the plant's natural spectrum of constituents, not an isolated or standardized single-compound product, and it is meant to be taken internally by the drop.
What is the difference between the alcohol-free and tincture versions?
Both are liquid extracts of the same wild-harvested Rosa canina seed; only the solvent differs. The alcohol-free version is a glycerite made with roughly 60% vegetable glycerin and 40% purified water, giving it a naturally mild, sweet taste that suits those who avoid alcohol. The tincture uses organic alcohol with USP-grade vegetable glycerin and purified water, the classic conventional extraction method that yields a super-concentrated extract. Choose the glycerite if you prefer no alcohol; choose the tincture for a traditional alcohol-extracted format with a longer shelf life.
Is this the same as rosehip oil, and what part of the plant is used?
No - this is an important distinction. Rosehip oil (often sold as rosehip seed oil) is a cosmetic oil pressed from the seeds and applied to the skin; it is a completely different type of product from ours. Our rosehips extract is a water-and-glycerin or alcohol-based liquid that you take internally by the drop, diluted in water, tea or juice - not an oil, and not for topical skincare use. Both can start from the seed of Rosa canina, but the finished products, methods and uses are entirely different. It also helps to understand the parts of the plant. The "rosehip" is the fruit of the wild rose; within that fruit are seeds, and our extract is made specifically from the dried seed. When people speak of "rose hips" as a source of vitamin C, they are usually referring to the whole fruit; our seed extract is a related but distinct preparation. We label our product clearly by botanical name (Rosa canina), plant part (seed) and format (liquid extract) so there is no confusion with cosmetic rosehip oil or with whole-fruit rosehip products.
How do I use Rosehips liquid extract?
Shake well before use. Adults take 20-30 drops (approximately 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper) in 2 oz of water, tea, or juice, up to 3 times daily, or as directed by your practitioner. Drink the entire contents. This product is for internal use, not for application to the skin.
