This is an alcohol-based liquid extract (tincture) of the dried root of Scrophularia ningpoensis, a perennial plant of the Scrophulariaceae family. In traditional Chinese practice this root is known as Xuan Shen (Radix Scrophulariae), a cooling, yin-supporting herb used for around two thousand years.
