FEATURES AND DESCRIPTION:
  •   Expertly extracted
  •   Highest Strength Barley Grass liquid extract - contains ONLY natural ingredients
  •   High Quality Barley Grass liquid extract - we use classic conventional methods of extraction. We meticulously produce our extracts according to precise standards where each herb is extracted according to the distinct characteristic of each plant.
  •   Super concentrated Barley Grass tincture
  •   We strictly use ethically sourced raw material

Barley Grass (Hordeum vulgare) is the young green leaf of the barley plant, cut while it is still in the leafy stage and before the plant forms a stalk and sets grain. That timing is what makes it barley grass rather than barley. This tincture is prepared from the dried young grass using a traditional alcohol extraction.

  •

WHOLE-GRASS LIQUID EXTRACT: Made from the dried young grass of Hordeum vulgare, carrying the plant's natural spectrum of constituents rather than an isolated compound.

  •

TRADITIONAL ALCOHOL EXTRACTION: A classic alcohol-based tincture, with vegetable glycerin and purified water, offering a long shelf life.

  •

THE GRASS, NOT THE GRAIN: This is the young leaf. It is not barley the cereal grain, and it is not malt. We sell Mai Ya, sprouted barley grain, as a separate product.

  •

BARLEY GRASS, NOT WHEATGRASS: Wheatgrass is the same idea applied to a different plant, the young leaf of wheat (Triticum aestivum). The two are often confused.

  •

A LIQUID EXTRACT, NOT A POWDER: Barley grass is most often sold as a dried powder or juice powder. Ours is a liquid you take by the drop.

  •

CLEARLY LABELED: Labeled by botanical name (Hordeum vulgare) and plant part, so there is no confusion between the grass, the grain and the sprout.

Hordeum vulgare - Barley Grass

Barley grass (Hordeum vulgare) is the green leafy stage of a familiar cereal plant, harvested young. Our Barley Grass extract captures the dried grass in a concentrated liquid tincture.

About our Barley Grass Extract:

We start with quality, ethically sourced Hordeum vulgare grass, extracted using the classic alcohol method for a highest-strength tincture with a long shelf life. It is a whole-grass extract - not an isolate - carrying the plant's natural profile. Like any green leaf, it owes its colour to chlorophyll and carries the vitamins and minerals typical of green foliage.

Suggested use: Shake well before use. Adults take 20-30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water, tea, or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by your practitioner.*

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE PRODUCT:

Main Ingredients: Barley Grass (Hordeum vulgare) Dried Grass. Origin: USA.

Other ingredients: organic alcohol, vegetable glycerin, crystal clear water.

Additional information about ingredients: Contains NO artificial colors, preservatives or synthetic fertilizers.

Suggested Use: Shake well before use. Take 20-30 drops in 2 oz of water, tea, or juice, up to 4 times a day, or as directed by your practitioner. Do not use if seal is broken or missing. Store in a cool, dark place.

Safety information: This product is derived from barley, which is a gluten-containing grain. Barley grass is the leaf rather than the seed, and the leaf itself is not a source of gluten, but seed material can enter a grass harvest. If you have coeliac disease, a wheat or barley allergy, or you otherwise avoid gluten, please contact us about gluten testing for the current lot before using this product. People with grass pollen allergy may also wish to be cautious. Keep out of reach of children. If you are pregnant, nursing or taking any medications, consult your doctor before use. This tincture is made with alcohol, so excessive consumption may impair your ability to drive or operate machinery. Do not exceed the suggested serving.

Frequently Asked Questions about Barley Extract
What is Barley Grass (Hordeum vulgare) extract?
Barley grass is the young green leaf of the barley plant, Hordeum vulgare, a cereal of the grass family (Poaceae). It is harvested while the plant is still in the leafy stage, before it forms a stalk and sets grain - which is what distinguishes barley grass from barley the cereal. The part used here is that dried young grass, not the grain and not malt. Like other green leaves it owes its colour to chlorophyll, and it carries the vitamins and minerals typical of a green leaf; these are simply constituents of the raw material. Our extract is offered in two forms, a traditional alcohol-based tincture and an alcohol-free glycerite. This is a whole-grass liquid extract carrying the plant's natural spectrum of constituents, not an isolated compound, and it is a different format from the barley grass powders and juice powders that dominate this market. We label it clearly by botanical name and plant part.
What is the difference between the tincture and alcohol-free versions?
Both are liquid extracts of the same Hordeum vulgare grass; only the solvent differs. The tincture uses alcohol as the traditional solvent, together with vegetable glycerin and water. The alcohol-free version is a glycerite made with vegetable glycerin and purified water, suited to those who avoid alcohol. Both deliver the grass's constituents in a convenient liquid you take by the drop. Choose the tincture for a classic alcohol-extracted format with a longer shelf life; choose the glycerite if you prefer no alcohol.
Is this barley grain, and how does it differ from wheatgrass?
Two separate questions. First, the plant part: this is the grass, not the grain. Barley the cereal - the grain used in soups, in bread and in brewing, and malt made from it - is a different article from the young leaf harvested before the plant sets seed. This product is the leaf. Second, the neighbours: wheatgrass is the same idea applied to a different plant, the young leaf of wheat, Triticum aestivum. Barley grass and wheatgrass are often sold side by side and are frequently confused, but they come from different species. We also sell Mai Ya, which is sprouted barley grain - again the same species as this product but a different part, and a different article. As for format, barley grass is most often sold as a dried powder or a juice powder; ours is a liquid extract taken by the drop. We label the botanical name (Hordeum vulgare) and plant part on every page so you can tell exactly which one you are buying.
How do I use Barley Grass liquid extract?
Shake well before use. Adults take 20-30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water, tea, or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by your practitioner. Drink the entire contents. Do not exceed the suggested serving.
Is Barley Grass extract right for everyone? Safety and storage.
Please read this before use. This product is derived from barley, which is a gluten-containing grain. Barley grass is the leaf rather than the seed, and the leaf itself is not a source of gluten, but seed material can enter a grass harvest. If you have coeliac disease, a wheat or barley allergy, or you otherwise avoid gluten, contact us about gluten testing for the current lot before using this product, and do not rely on assumption. People with grass pollen allergy may also wish to be cautious. If you are pregnant or nursing, take any medication, or have a medical condition, talk with a qualified healthcare practitioner before use. Keep out of reach of children, and do not exceed the suggested serving. Store this tincture in a cool, dark place. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
