Brain And Memory Care Alcohol-Free Drops

This is an alcohol-free liquid extract (glycerite) of three leaf herbs extracted together in equal parts. Ginkgo and gotu kola are two of the most widely used leaf herbs in the world; rosemary is the familiar Mediterranean kitchen herb. All three are also sold on their own. It is a traditional herbal product - please read the safety information below before use.

  • Ginkgo, leaf - Ginkgo biloba leaf (Ginkgoaceae) - the leaf, not the seed
  • Gotu kola, herb - Centella asiatica aerial parts (Apiaceae)
  • Rosemary, leaf - Rosmarinus officinalis leaf (Lamiaceae)
  • Extract type: Alcohol-free glycerite - liquid drops. Other ingredients: vegetable glycerin, purified water
  • Origin: Responsibly sourced botanicals (ginkgo from Taiwan, gotu kola from Sri Lanka, rosemary from Turkey). Gluten free. Made in the USA.

What is in the blend

  • Ginkgo - the fan-shaped leaf of the ginkgo tree, a living fossil cultivated in East Asia for centuries. The leaf is the part used in nearly all ginkgo products; the seed (Bai Guo) is a different plant part and is not in this blend.
  • Gotu kola - a small creeping herb of the carrot family from the wetlands of South and Southeast Asia, eaten as a salad green in Sri Lanka. Despite the name it is unrelated to the kola nut and contains no caffeine.
  • Rosemary - the needle-like leaf of the aromatic Mediterranean shrub, one of the oldest herbs of European kitchens and herbals.

Why the alcohol-free drops

The three dried herbs are extracted together in vegetable glycerin and purified water, so there is no ethanol in the bottle - the version to choose if you avoid alcohol. Glycerin gives the drops a mild, naturally sweet taste that softens the aromatic bitterness of ginkgo and rosemary.

What is a glycerite?

A glycerite is a liquid herbal extract made with vegetable glycerin instead of alcohol. Glycerin is a clear, naturally sweet liquid from plant oils; it extracts and preserves the water-soluble parts of the herbs. Because glycerin is a weaker preservative than alcohol, keep the bottle refrigerated after opening. The glycerin and water percentages are printed on the label.

How to use

Shake well before use. Put the number of drops shown on the label into a little water, juice or tea and drink it, up to the frequency shown on the label. Do not exceed the label serving. Refrigerate after opening and use within the period printed on the label.

Drops or tincture?

If you prefer the classic alcohol-based extract with the longest shelf life at room temperature, the same three-herb blend is available as Brain And Memory Care Tincture - the alcohol-based version. The herbs and proportions are identical; only the extraction liquid differs.

Important safety information - please read before use

All three herbs in this blend have documented cautions. Please read before use.

  • Bleeding: ginkgo and rosemary may slow blood clotting. Do not combine with warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel or other blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs without your doctor. Stop use at least two weeks before scheduled surgery or dental work.
  • Pregnancy / nursing: do not use - all three herbs are traditionally avoided in pregnancy.
  • Liver: rare cases of liver injury have been reported with gotu kola. Stay within the label serving. Stop and see a doctor if you notice yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine or unusual fatigue.
  • Seizures: avoid if you have epilepsy or a seizure disorder.
  • Sedatives: gotu kola may add to the effect of sedative medicines and alcohol.
  • Diabetes medication: rosemary may affect blood sugar - consult your practitioner.
  • Allergies: rosemary is a mint-family (Lamiaceae) plant; gotu kola can cause skin sensitivity in some people.
  • Age: not for children.
  • If you have a medical condition or take medication, consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use. Do not use it to self-treat any medical condition - see a qualified doctor instead. Keep out of reach of children.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Brain And Memory Care Alcohol-Free Drops?
Brain And Memory Care is a three-herb liquid blend: ginkgo leaf (Ginkgo biloba), gotu kola herb (Centella asiatica) and rosemary leaf (Rosmarinus officinalis), extracted together in equal parts in vegetable glycerin and purified water, with no alcohol. Ginkgo and gotu kola are two of the most widely used leaf herbs in the world, and rosemary is the familiar Mediterranean kitchen herb; all three are also sold on their own. It is an herbal glycerite, not a capsule. It is a botanical product and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Please read the safety note below - this blend is not suitable for everyone, in particular anyone taking blood-thinning medication or planning surgery.
What is the difference between the alcohol-free drops and the tincture?
Both contain the same three herbs in the same proportions; only the extraction liquid differs. These drops are a glycerite made with vegetable glycerin and purified water - no alcohol, a milder and naturally sweet taste that softens the aromatic bitterness of ginkgo and rosemary, best kept refrigerated after opening. The tincture uses organic alcohol with vegetable glycerin and water, the classic method with the longest shelf life at room temperature. Choose whichever suits you; the safety notes apply to both.
Is the ginkgo in this blend the leaf or the seed? Is gotu kola related to kola nut?
The ginkgo in this blend is the leaf - the fan-shaped leaf of the ginkgo tree, which is the part used in nearly all ginkgo products. Ginkgo seed (Bai Guo) is a different plant part with its own safety profile and is sold by us as a separate product; it is not in this blend. Gotu kola (Centella asiatica) is a small creeping herb of the carrot family from the wetlands of Asia. Despite the name it is unrelated to the kola nut (Cola species) and contains no caffeine. Rosemary here is the leaf of the ordinary culinary rosemary shrub, not the essential oil.
How do I use Brain And Memory Care Drops?
Shake well before use. Put the number of drops shown on the label into a little water, juice or tea and drink it, up to the frequency shown on the label. Do not exceed the label serving. Refrigerate after opening and use within the period printed on the label. Keep out of reach of children.
