This is an alcohol-free liquid extract (glycerite) of three herbs extracted together in equal parts. All three are long-standing botanicals of Indian herbalism and are also sold on their own. It is a traditional herbal product, not a capsule and not a medicine - please read the safety information below before use.

What is in the blend
- Fenugreek - a Mediterranean and South Asian legume whose hard, golden seeds are a kitchen spice and a classic bitter herb; they give the blend its characteristic maple-like aroma.
- Bitter melon - the warty, cucumber-like fruit of a tropical vine, eaten as a vegetable across Asia and one of the most bitter plants in the herbal cupboard.
- Gymnema - a woody climbing vine of the milkweed family from the forests of central and southern India; its leaf has been used in Ayurvedic tradition for over two thousand years.
Why the alcohol-free drops
The three dried herbs are extracted together in vegetable glycerin and purified water, so there is no ethanol in the bottle - the version to choose if you avoid alcohol. Glycerin gives the drops a mild, naturally sweet taste that softens the strong bitterness of bitter melon and fenugreek.
What is a glycerite?
A glycerite is a liquid herbal extract made with vegetable glycerin instead of alcohol. Glycerin is a clear, naturally sweet liquid from plant oils; it extracts and preserves the water-soluble parts of the herbs. Because glycerin is a weaker preservative than alcohol, keep the bottle refrigerated after opening. The glycerin and water percentages are printed on the label.
How to use
Shake well before use. Put the number of drops shown on the label into a little water, juice or tea and drink it, up to the frequency shown on the label. Do not exceed the label serving. Refrigerate after opening and use within the period printed on the label.
Drops or tincture?
If you prefer the classic alcohol-based extract with the longest shelf life at room temperature, the same three-herb blend is available as Blood Sugar Level Formula Tincture - the alcohol-based version. The herbs and proportions are identical; only the extraction liquid differs.

All three herbs in this blend have well-documented cautions. Please read before use.
- Diabetes medication: each of these herbs may lower blood sugar, and the effects add to those of insulin, metformin, sulfonylureas and other diabetes medicines. If you take any of them, use this blend only under the supervision of your doctor and monitor closely. Stop and seek help if you feel shaky, sweaty, confused or faint. It is not a substitute for any prescribed treatment.
- Pregnancy / nursing: do not use. Bitter melon and fenugreek can affect the uterus; gymnema has not been studied.
- Allergies: fenugreek is a legume and can cross-react in people allergic to peanuts, chickpeas or other legumes. Gymnema belongs to the milkweed family.
- Blood thinners: fenugreek may slow clotting - consult your practitioner if you take warfarin or similar.
- G6PD deficiency: avoid - bitter melon seeds contain vicine.
- Surgery: stop use at least two weeks before scheduled surgery.
- Liver: stop and see a doctor if you notice yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine or unusual fatigue.
- Good to know: fenugreek can give sweat and urine a harmless maple-syrup smell.
- Age: not for children.
