About Stellaria media

Chickweed (Stellaria media) is a sprawling annual of the carnation family, Caryophyllaceae, native to Europe and western Asia and now one of the most widespread weeds on earth, carpeting gardens, fields, and lawns across North America in cool, damp weather. Its weak, trailing stems reach 5 to 40 centimeters and carry pairs of small, oval, pointed leaves; a single line of fine hairs runs up one side of the stem and switches sides at each leaf pair, a reliable field mark. Tiny white star-shaped flowers with five deeply notched petals appear almost year-round. The mild, grassy leaves go into salads. We extract the dried above-ground parts.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
