About Dryopteris crassirhizoma

Cyrtomium (sold under the Chinese name Guan Zhong; our catalog lists Dryopteris crassirhizoma, the thick-stemmed wood fern, while Cyrtomium fortunei is a different fern that shares the name) is a large deciduous fern of the wood fern family, Dryopteridaceae, native to cool mountain forests of northeastern China, Korea, Japan, and the Russian Far East. Dryopteris crassirhizoma forms a vase-shaped crown of stiff, twice-divided fronds up to a meter long on short, scaly stalks. Its rhizome is massive and erect, 10 to 20 centimeters long, densely clothed in glossy brown scales and the hard, persistent bases of old fronds. We extract the dried rhizome.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
