About Cornus florida

Dogwood (Cornus florida), the flowering dogwood, is a small deciduous tree of the dogwood family, Cornaceae, native to the understory of eastern North American forests from Maine and Ontario south to Florida and west to Texas, and the state tree of Virginia and Missouri. It grows 5 to 10 meters with a low, spreading crown, opposite oval leaves that turn red-purple in autumn, and bark broken into small, square, alligator-hide blocks. In spring each branch tip carries what looks like a single white or pink flower; the four showy petals are really bracts around a cluster of tiny true flowers, followed by glossy scarlet berries. We extract the dried bark.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
