Evodia (Tetradium ruticarpum, also written Euodia ruticarpa) is a small deciduous tree of the citrus family, Rutaceae, native to China and the Himalaya. It grows 3-10 m tall with pinnate, aromatic leaves and broad clusters of small greenish-white flowers. The purplish-red fruits, known in China as wu zhu yu, are harvested unripe and have a hot, bitter, strongly pungent taste and smell. We extract the dried fruit.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
