About Scrophularia nodosa

Figwort (Scrophularia nodosa), the common or knotted figwort, is a perennial of the figwort family, Scrophulariaceae, native to damp woods and hedgerows across Europe and western Asia. It has square, sharply angled stems to 1 m, paired heart-shaped toothed leaves, and loose spikes of small, globular, brownish-purple flowers that wasps favor. The knobby rhizome gives the species its name nodosa, and the whole plant has a rank, unpleasant smell. We extract the dried herb.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
