Finger Lemon (Citrus medica var. sarcodactylis), the Buddha's hand citron, listed in pharmacopoeias as Fructus Citri Sarcodactylis, is a shrub or small tree of the citrus family, Rutaceae, that arose in cultivation in China and northeastern India. The fruit splits into long, finger-like segments and holds almost no pulp or juice, but its thick yellow rind is intensely fragrant with a lemon-violet scent. In China it is called fo shou and is grown as an ornamental and perfume fruit. We extract the dried fruit.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
