Forsythia (Forsythia suspensa), the weeping forsythia or lian qiao, is a deciduous shrub of the olive family, Oleaceae, native to China and planted worldwide as a spring ornamental. Its arching, hollow stems reach 3 m and are covered before the leaves with bright yellow, four-lobed flowers. The woody, beaked capsules ripen in autumn and split into two valves. The unripe green fruit is bitter and slightly aromatic. We extract the dried fruit.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
