About Galega officinalis

Goats Rue (Galega officinalis) is a bushy perennial of the legume family, Fabaceae, native to southern Europe and western Asia and naturalized in parts of North America, where it is a regulated weed in several states. It grows 1-1.5 m tall with hollow stems, pinnate leaves of many narrow leaflets and dense spikes of pale lilac or white pea flowers in summer. Bruised foliage gives off a rank smell that is said to resemble a goat. We extract the dried herb.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
