About Cyamopsis tetragonoloba

Guar (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba), the cluster bean, is a drought-tolerant annual of the legume family, Fabaceae, domesticated in India and Pakistan, which still grow most of the world crop. The upright plant reaches 1-3 m with three-part leaves, small pink or white flowers and clusters of slender, hairy pods, eaten green as a vegetable in Rajasthan and Gujarat. The hard seeds are milled to separate the endosperm, a galactomannan gum that thickens water at many hundred times its weight. We extract the dried gum powder.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
