Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), also called giloy or heart-leaved moonseed, is a large deciduous climbing shrub of the moonseed family, Menispermaceae, native to India, Sri Lanka and Myanmar. It climbs high into trees with succulent, warty stems that send down long aerial roots like threads, heart-shaped leaves and small greenish-yellow flowers. The bitter stem and root are papery-barked and spongy within, and the fruits ripen to pea-sized red drupes. We extract the dried root.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
