Hog Fennel (Thyselium palustre, long known as Peucedanum palustre), the milk parsley or marsh hog's fennel, is a biennial or short-lived perennial of the carrot family, Apiaceae, native to fens, marshes and wet meadows across Europe and Siberia. It grows 60-150 cm tall with hollow, ridged stems, finely divided, triangular leaves and flat umbels of small white flowers. The cut stem bleeds a milky juice, and the long taproot smells faintly of celery. We extract the dried root.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
