Jin Ying Zi (Rosa laevigata), the Cherokee rose, is an evergreen climbing rose of the rose family, Rosaceae, native to southern China, Taiwan, Laos and Vietnam and naturalized across the southeastern United States, where it is the state flower of Georgia. Its thorny canes climb to 10 m with glossy leaves of three leaflets and large, fragrant, single white flowers with yellow centers. The pear-shaped orange-red hips are covered in bristles and have a sour, astringent taste. We extract the dried fruit.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
