About Ascophyllum nodosum

Kelp (Ascophyllum nodosum), the knotted wrack or Norwegian kelp, is a brown seaweed of the Fucaceae family, native to the rocky intertidal shores of the North Atlantic from Norway and Britain to the Canadian Maritimes and Maine. Its tough, olive-brown, strap-like fronds grow up to 2 m long, swollen at intervals into single egg-shaped air bladders that float the plant at high tide, with yellowish fruiting bodies in spring. Dried and milled, it is dark brown with a salty, briny taste. We extract the dried whole plant.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
