Laggera (Laggera alata), the winged laggera or liu leng ju in China, is a coarse, aromatic annual or short-lived perennial of the daisy family, Asteraceae, native to tropical Africa, India, southern China and Southeast Asia. It grows 50-150 cm tall with stems edged by wavy, leaf-like wings that run down from each leaf base, oblong toothed leaves and small, nodding, purple-pink flower heads in loose clusters. The whole plant is hairy and smells strongly of camphor. We extract the dried herb.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
