Lavandin (Lavandula x intermedia) is a sterile hybrid of true lavender and spike lavender, a woody evergreen shrub of the mint family, Lamiaceae, that arises naturally where the two parents meet in the hills of Provence and is grown there on a large scale. It is bigger and more vigorous than true lavender, 60-90 cm tall with grey-green leaves and long-stalked spikes of violet flowers. The scent is sharper and more camphorous than lavender, and the plant yields several times more oil. We extract the dried flower.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
