About Cymbopogon citratus

Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus), the West Indian lemongrass, is a tall clumping perennial grass of the grass family, Poaceae, probably native to tropical Southeast Asia or Sri Lanka and now grown across the tropics from Thailand and India to the Caribbean. It forms dense tussocks 1-1.5 m tall of sharp-edged, blue-green, arching leaves rising from pale, bulbous stem bases and rarely flowers in cultivation. The crushed stalk smells of lemon with a hint of ginger and rose, from citral, and is a staple of Thai cooking. We extract the dried stalk.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
