Linden (Tilia x europaea), the common lime or linden, is a large deciduous tree of the mallow family, Malvaceae, a natural hybrid of small-leaved and large-leaved lime native to Europe and widely planted in streets and avenues. It reaches 30-40 m with heart-shaped, toothed leaves and, in early summer, hanging clusters of small, pale yellow, honey-scented flowers, each cluster attached to a pale, strap-like bract. The flowers taste sweet and mucilaginous, and bees produce a pale honey from them. We extract the dried leaf and flower.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
