Litchi (Litchi chinensis), the lychee, is an evergreen tree of the soapberry family, Sapindaceae, native to southern China and northern Vietnam and grown across the subtropics from India to Florida and Australia. It grows 10-15 m with a dense, rounded crown, glossy pinnate leaves and sprays of tiny greenish-white flowers. The fruit has a rough, bumpy red rind around translucent white, sweet, perfumed flesh and a single smooth, glossy brown seed, which is dried and known in China as li zhi he. We extract the dried seed.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
