Mango Ginger (Curcuma amada) is a rhizomatous perennial of the ginger family, Zingiberaceae, native to India and Myanmar and grown in Bengal, Kerala and Karnataka. Its leafy shoots reach 60-90 cm with broad, oblong, bright green leaves, and spikes of pale yellow flowers with pink-tinged bracts appear at ground level. The rhizome looks like a pale ginger and is yellow inside like a light turmeric, but when cut it smells and tastes unmistakably of raw green mango, and it is pickled and made into chutney in India. We extract the dried root.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
