About Melilotus officinalis

Melilot (Melilotus officinalis), the yellow sweet clover or ribbed melilot, is a biennial of the legume family, Fabaceae, native to Europe and Asia and widespread along roadsides across North America. It grows 60-150 cm tall with slender, branching stems, trifoliate leaves with toothed leaflets and long, loose spikes of small yellow pea flowers that bees work heavily. The drying herb smells strongly of new-mown hay and vanilla from coumarin, a scent that flavors Gruyere and some tobaccos. We extract the dried herb.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
