Neem (Azadirachta indica) is a fast-growing evergreen tree of the mahogany family, Meliaceae, native to the Indian subcontinent and Myanmar and planted across the dry tropics of Africa, Arabia and the Americas as a shade tree. It grows 15-20 m with a broad, rounded crown of pinnate leaves with curved, toothed leaflets, and sprays of small, fragrant white flowers followed by olive-like yellow fruits. The leaves and seeds are intensely bitter, and the twigs are the traditional toothbrush of village India. We extract the dried leaf.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
