Ovientvine, the catalogue spelling of orientvine (Sinomenium acutum), is a woody deciduous climber of the moonseed family, Menispermaceae, native to China, Japan and Korea, where it twines through forest margins and thickets. Its stems reach several meters, the leaves are broad, often shallowly lobed and heart-shaped at the base, and small greenish flowers are followed by blue-black drupes. The thick stems, known in China as qing feng teng, are cut into slices and dried. We extract the dried stem.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
