Qian Hu (Peucedanum praeruptorum) is a perennial of the carrot family, Apiaceae, native to central and eastern China, where it grows on sunny hillsides, cliff ledges and grassy slopes. It reaches 60 to 100 cm with a stout, ridged stem, finely divided ternate-pinnate leaves with long sheathing stalks, and compound umbels of small white flowers in late summer. The fruit is flattened with winged ribs. The taproot is conical, dark brown and wrinkled, with a fragrant, slightly bitter cut surface. We extract the dried root.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
