Raspberry (Rubus idaeus) is a deciduous shrub of the rose family, Rosaceae, native to Europe and northern Asia and cultivated in temperate regions worldwide. It produces biennial canes 1.5 to 2.5 meters tall from a perennial root, armed with fine prickles and bearing pinnate leaves of three to seven toothed leaflets that are dark green above and whitish beneath. Small white flowers give way to the aggregate red fruit that slips free of its core when ripe. The leaves are slightly astringent and faintly fruity when dried. We extract the dried leaf.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
