Rose (Rosa x centifolia) is the cabbage rose or Provence rose, a deciduous shrub of the rose family, Rosaceae, a complex hybrid of garden origin raised by Dutch breeders in the seventeenth century and grown today around Grasse in France and in Morocco. It forms an arching bush 1.5 to 2 meters tall with prickly stems and grey-green pinnate leaves. The large, globe-shaped, deeply double pink flowers, packed with a hundred petals as the Latin name says, are heavily fragrant and open in early summer. We extract the dried petals.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
