Rupturewort (Herniaria glabra) is smooth rupturewort, a prostrate annual or short-lived perennial of the pink family, Caryophyllaceae, native to Europe, North Africa and western Asia, where it grows on sandy, gravelly and trampled ground. It forms flat, dense green mats to 30 cm across of thin wiry stems set with tiny, smooth, oval leaves that turn bronze in cold weather. The minute greenish flowers are crowded in clusters along the stems and are easily overlooked. It is planted as a walkable groundcover under the name green carpet. We extract the dried herb.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
