San Leng as sold here is the river bulrush (Bolboschoenus fluviatilis, long listed as Scirpus fluviatilis), a perennial sedge of the sedge family, Cyperaceae, native to wetlands of North America, eastern Asia and Australia, where it grows in marshes, pond margins and slow streams. Its sharply three-angled stems rise 1 to 2 meters from creeping rhizomes, with long grass-like leaves and a terminal cluster of brown, scaly spikelets above leafy bracts. The rhizome produces hard, rounded tubers. We extract the dried root.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
