Shankhpushpi (Convolvulus prostratus, long listed as Convolvulus pluricaulis) is a prostrate perennial of the morning glory family, Convolvulaceae, native to India and Pakistan, where it spreads across sandy, dry ground and open fields on the plains. Its slender, hairy stems trail to 30 cm or more, with small, narrow, alternate leaves and solitary funnel-shaped flowers 1 to 2 cm across, white to pale pink, that resemble tiny morning glories and open in the morning. The Sanskrit name likens the flower to a conch shell. We extract the dried whole herb.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
