About Capsella bursa-pastoris

Shepherd's Purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris) is a small annual of the mustard family, Brassicaceae, native to Europe and western Asia and now one of the most widespread weeds on earth, found in gardens, fields and sidewalks across North America. It forms a basal rosette of deeply lobed, dandelion-like leaves and sends up a slender stem 10 to 50 cm tall with tiny white four-petaled flowers. The stem is lined with flat, heart-shaped to triangular seed pods that resemble the leather purses once carried by shepherds, which gives the plant its name. We extract the dried herb.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
