Spinach (Spinacia oleracea) is a leafy annual of the amaranth family, Amaranthaceae, native to Central and Southwest Asia, probably ancient Persia, and grown as a vegetable in cool seasons worldwide. It forms a rosette of dark green, fleshy leaves that are smooth or crinkled depending on the cultivar, triangular to oval, on long stalks, and in warm long days bolts to a flowering stem 30 to 100 cm tall with small green flowers, with male and female usually on separate plants. The fruit is a small cluster of seeds, smooth or prickly. We extract the dried leaf.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
