Suggested use and dosage for adults: Shake well before use. 20-30 drops (1 ml., one full squeeze of dropper), up to 4 times a day or as directed by your practitioner. The best way to use liquid herbal tinctures is to put the suggested amount in a glass of water, tea, or juice and drink the entire contents. Tinctures can also be administered directly into the mouth without the assistance of water however some tinctures are unpalatable which is why most people prefer to dilute them into a beverage.

What is Spinach Leaf (Spinacia oleracea) extract?
Spinach, botanically Spinacia oleracea, is a familiar leafy green vegetable of the Amaranthaceae family. The part used here is the dried leaf, sourced from Israel and prepared as a concentrated liquid extract. The leaf naturally contains iron, vitamin K, folate, lutein and carotenoids - these are simply constituents of the raw material. We offer the extract in two forms, a traditional alcohol-based tincture and an alcohol-free glycerite, both taken by the drop. This is a concentrated liquid extract of the spinach leaf. It is not fresh or cooked spinach that you eat as a vegetable, not spinach powder or juice, and not a thylakoid product. We label the botanical name (Spinacia oleracea) and the plant part (leaf) on every page.
What is the difference between the tincture and alcohol-free versions?
Both are liquid extracts of the same Spinacia oleracea leaf; only the solvent differs. The tincture uses alcohol as the traditional solvent, together with vegetable glycerin and water. The alcohol-free version is a glycerite made with vegetable glycerin and purified water, suited to those who avoid alcohol. Both deliver the leaf's constituents in a convenient liquid you take by the drop. Choose the tincture for a classic alcohol-extracted format with a longer shelf life; choose the glycerite if you prefer no alcohol.
How is this different from eating spinach or spinach powder?
This is a concentrated liquid extract of the dried spinach leaf, taken by the drop, rather than a food. It is not the fresh or cooked spinach you eat as a vegetable, not spinach powder for smoothies or cooking, and not spinach juice. It is also not the same as a "thylakoid" product; thylakoids are spinach chloroplast-membrane preparations sold separately for other purposes, and that is not what this is. Because it is a concentrated leaf extract, a little goes a long way - follow the suggested serving and do not exceed it. How do I use Spinach Leaf liquid extract?
Shake well before use. Adults take 20-30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water, tea, or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by your practitioner. It can also be taken directly by mouth. Do not exceed the suggested serving.

Two plain cautions apply to a concentrated spinach extract: spinach is naturally high in oxalates, so if you are prone to kidney stones (especially calcium-oxalate stones) talk with your healthcare practitioner before use; and spinach is naturally high in vitamin K, which can interact with blood-thinning medication such as warfarin, so if you take a blood thinner consult your physician first. Do not use this product during pregnancy. If you are nursing or taking any medication, consult your physician before use, and do not use it if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
