Sweet Rice (Oryza sativa, glutinous group, listed in the catalogue as Oryza glutinosa) is sticky or glutinous rice, an annual grass of the grass family, Poaceae, domesticated in East Asia and grown throughout Southeast Asia, China and Japan. It grows 60 to 150 cm tall with narrow flat leaves and drooping panicles of grains that are opaque white and cook to a sticky mass because their starch is almost all amylopectin. The fibrous root system, known in China as nuo dao gen, is dug after harvest and washed. We extract the dried root.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
