Teasel (Dipsacus fullonum) is the common or wild teasel, a tall biennial of the honeysuckle family, Caprifoliaceae, native to Europe, North Africa and western Asia and naturalized across North America. In its first year it forms a rosette of large, wrinkled leaves, and in the second sends up a prickly stem 1 to 2 meters tall with pairs of leaves whose bases join to form cups that collect rainwater. The egg-shaped flower heads, ringed with spiny bracts, open bands of lilac flowers. We extract the dried root.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
