White Nettle (Lamium album) is the white dead-nettle, a perennial of the mint family, Lamiaceae, native to Europe and Asia and naturalized in parts of northeastern North America along hedgerows, roadsides and waste ground. It grows 30 to 60 cm tall with square, hollow, hairy stems and opposite, heart-shaped, toothed leaves that closely resemble stinging nettle but lack stinging hairs. Whorls of large white, hooded, two-lipped flowers appear in the leaf axils from spring to autumn and are a favorite of bumblebees. We extract the dried leaf.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
