Wild Cherry (Prunus serotina) is the black cherry, a deciduous tree of the rose family, Rosaceae, native to eastern and central North America from Nova Scotia to Florida and Texas, and the largest of the native cherries. It grows 20 to 30 meters with dark, scaly bark that peels in curling plates, glossy, finely toothed, oblong leaves with rusty hairs along the underside midrib, and drooping racemes of small white flowers in late spring followed by dark purple-black fruit. The inner bark smells distinctly of bitter almond when freshly cut. We extract the dried bark.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
