Yu Li Ren (Prunus japonica) is the Chinese bush cherry or oriental bush cherry, a small deciduous shrub of the rose family, Rosaceae, native to China, Korea and Japan, where it grows on sunny hillsides and in thickets. It forms a dense, twiggy bush 1 to 1.5 meters tall with slender branches, small oval, finely toothed leaves and masses of pale pink to white blossoms in early spring before or with the leaves. The shiny, deep red, pea-sized cherries each hold a small pit whose kernel is the harvested part. We extract the dried seed.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
