Yucca here is the Mojave yucca or Spanish dagger (Yucca schidigera), a tree-like evergreen of the asparagus family, Asparagaceae, native to the Mojave and Sonoran deserts of southern California, Nevada, Arizona and Baja California, where it grows on rocky slopes and desert flats. Unlike the stemless Great Plains species it develops a trunk 1 to 5 meters tall, often branched, topped by dense rosettes of rigid, yellow-green, dagger-like leaves with fraying fibers along the edges, and bears a stout spike of creamy white, bell-shaped flowers in spring. The fleshy trunk and root lather in water. We extract the dried root.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
