Serenity Alcohol-Free Drops
Serenity Alcohol-Free Glycerite, Brahmi Herb, Passionflower Herb, Valerian RootSerenity Alcohol-Free Drops
This is an alcohol-free liquid extract (glycerite) of three herbs extracted together: the succulent creeping herb of Indian wetlands, the flowering vine of the American Southeast, and the pungent root of the European meadow plant. Each is also sold on its own. It is a traditional herbal product for adults only - it causes drowsiness - please read the safety information below before use.
- Brahmi, herb - Bacopa monnieri whole herb (Plantaginaceae)
- Passionflower, herb - Passiflora incarnata aerial parts (Passifloraceae)
- Valerian, root - Valeriana officinalis root (Caprifoliaceae)
- Extract type: Alcohol-free glycerite - liquid drops. Other ingredients: vegetable glycerin, purified water
- Origin: Responsibly sourced, cultivated botanicals. Gluten free. Made in the USA.
What is in the blend
- Brahmi herb - Bacopa monnieri, the water hyssop: a small creeping plant of marshes and pond edges across India and Southeast Asia, with fleshy bright-green leaves and tiny white flowers; the whole herb is used. In some regions the name brahmi is also given to gotu kola (Centella asiatica), a different plant that we sell separately.
- Passionflower herb - the leaf, stem and flower of the climbing vine of the southeastern United States, known for its elaborate purple-fringed blossoms; the aerial parts, not the fruit, are used here.
- Valerian root - the root of a tall meadow plant of Europe with clusters of pale pink flowers; the root has a strong, earthy smell that is unmistakable once known.
Why the alcohol-free drops
The three dried herbs are extracted together in vegetable glycerin and purified water, so there is no ethanol in the bottle - the version to choose if you avoid alcohol. Glycerin gives the drops a mild, naturally sweet taste that softens the bitter, earthy note of the herbs.
What is a glycerite?
A glycerite is a liquid herbal extract made with vegetable glycerin instead of alcohol. Glycerin is a clear, naturally sweet liquid from plant oils; it extracts and preserves the water-soluble parts of the herbs. Because glycerin is a weaker preservative than alcohol, keep the bottle refrigerated after opening. The glycerin and water percentages are printed on the label.
How to use
Shake well before use. Put the number of drops shown on the label into a little water, juice or tea and drink it, up to the frequency shown on the label. Do not exceed the label serving. Do not drive or operate machinery after taking it. Brahmi is gentler on the stomach when taken with food. Refrigerate after opening and use within the period printed on the label.
Drops or tincture?
If you prefer the classic alcohol-based extract with the longest shelf life at room temperature, the same three-herb blend is available as Serenity Tincture - the alcohol-based version. The herbs and proportions are identical; only the extraction liquid differs.
